Sesión 15. "Experiment with water"

Hi kids and families!

Para terminar la semana os planteo algo totalmente lúdico,  un reto en forma de experimento, esta tarea es simplemente para disfrutar, por lo que simplemente os planteo un experimento redactado en inglés. El reto será doble, primero traducirlo  y segundo realizarlo. En esta ocasión no os pido que copies ni me mandéis nada, simplemente que disfrutéis.

EXPERIENCE GRAVITY FREE WATER

 

What you'll need:

·              A glass filled right to the top with water

·              A piece of cardboard

Instructions:

1.     Put the cardboard over the mouth of the glass, making sure there are no air bubbles in the glass while holding it.

2.    Turn the glass upside down (over a sink).

3.    Remove the hand holding the cardboard.

What's happening?

If everything goes according to plan, the cardboard and water should stay in place. Even though the water cup is upside down, the water stays in place, defying gravity! So why is this happening? With no air inside the glass, the pressure of the air outside the glass is greater than the pressure of the water inside the glass. The extra air pressure manages to keep the cardboard in place, keeping it dry and its water where it should be, inside the glass.
